On becoming a “Heartfelt” photographer

On becoming a Heartfelt Photographer

From the heart…

In 2018 I became a photographer for Heartfelt. “Heartfelt is a volunteer organisation of professional photographers from all over Australia and New Zealand dedicated to giving the gift of photographic memories to families that have experienced stillbirths, premature births or have children with serious and terminal illnesses.”

Being welcomed into the arms of this amazing community was humbling – I’m surrounded by other members who are warm, caring and understanding. Each one of them goes above and beyond for the families they look after. I’ve also personally learned that they go above and beyond for those within our community too.

When you set out to join an organisation like this, you know it will have an impact – but I couldn’t have foreseen how far-reaching that impact would be. Becoming a Heartfelt photographer has affected every aspect of my life – personal and professional.  Giving to families during the most difficult times of their lives helps me become a better photographer (and human) and understand, even more, the power of my profession. It also keeps me centred and focused on what’s really important to me in my life.

Being able to give is incredibly important to me and Heartfelt is one of the ways I choose to do it. A heart is as powerful as it is fragile.

If you know of a family in need of a Heartfelt Photographer, please visit their website (www.heartfelt.org.au) or call 1800 583 768 direct.
